ABOUT (D)URBAN_Transformation of a downtown
Polytechnic School of Genova
Genova Italy, 17-23 june 2014
Concept, design and setting-up of the exhibition About (D)urban.
We also organized the opening ceremony day together with the students’ presentation of works and final critics. The exhibition material is a summary of the student’s works for the 3th year design studio, focused on the sustainable requalification of the Rivertown neighborhood in Durban, South Africa and tutored by Prof.Christiano Lepratti and his team at the Polytechnic School of Genoa.
The exhibition focuses on the role of densities as a possible success factor of a climate-friendly and socially responsable urban development. Increasing urban densities has become a key issue in the discussion about cities future in many countries around the world.
We have developed five different sections, each of them concerning a different topics: Urban Planning, Architectural Planning, Social Interaction, Environmental Improvement and Economic Stimulation.
The central core of the exhibition hosts, on the pallets’ structure, the summary panels made by students from Italy and Germany.
This structure is conceived to be a resting space in which visitors can wonder about the possibility of urban regeneration.
